Abstract

Three semesters Lehigh students of Prof. Kim Carrell-Smith’s who conducted interviews 2006 to 2010 with a number of people recalling various traditions held in an assortment of churches of South Bethlehem as well as the social fabric of an ethnic community. Interesting personal observations of life in South Bethlehem in the days before the demise of Bethlehem Steel, ethnic foods, retail stores and the closing or consolidation of many of the ethnic churches.

Abstract This collection consists of fourteen student conducted oral history projects related to Lehigh University. The course (History 303) was taught by Professor Kim Carrell-Smith in the Fall semester of 2003. Through the course, the students studied the standards of oral histories and as a final project, they interviewed Lehigh alumni, staff and faculty about Lehigh University, its history, traditions and experiences.
