Rectangle sepia colored measures 13 x 20 cm, in pencil on border written “All these pictures are ruins of old capital Destroyed by water volcano 100 years ago” - Antigua Gua. [lower right corner] [Volcan de Agua (water volcano) erupted 1773-74 spilling a lake of water when an earthquake activated beneath the volcano] - this reference would then make the photo circa 1874. The photo is of a three story masonry building with two four story towers on either side of portal.
