111. Pecos – Highest Bridge in N. A. – Ht. 321 ft. (The Pecos High Bridge/Viaduct was built in 1892 for the Southern Pacific Rail-Road. It shortened the route through West Texas. Its span was erected by the Phoenix Bridge Company of Phoenixville, PA. At the time, postcards of the bridge expressd the classic: “Having a good time, wish you were here.” This particular photo of a steam locomotive pulling a six car train is Image 37 in the Electronic Book version of the history of this trestle bridge.) (The original albumen print measures 16.5 x 21.5 cm applied to a gray cardstock 25.5 x 30.5 cm. On the back is stamped in blue ink: Pecos High Bridge, 321 feet high, 2180 feet long. In 1945 Modjeski and Masters Engineering consultants examined the trestle bridge and made a report to The Texas and New Orleans Railroad Company, see SCT Y0127)
