From the Collection:

The contents of the collection were presented to Lehigh University in archive boxes with a “bookplate” of the autograph Arch Johnston written over the legs of a two-humped camel with Box # ____ and on the bottom of “bookplate” label is printed Janet Johnston Housenick and William D. Housenick Memorial Foundation as identifier on seven of the boxes, the remainder just have Archibald Johnston Papers handwritten on plain labels.

Estelle’s 1947 diary 19.5 x 13 x 3 cm red buckram, plain-edged pages, Diary 1947 printed in gold on cover, 1947 on spine. Entries from January 1 to December 31 with a few pages of household expenses and assorted enclosures: newspaper clipping of daughter Elizabeth’s second marriage (1st was to a Kingsley) to Gordon Jost December 12, 1947; a small gift card from Robert Fox noting a Happy Easter; a list in pencil of birthday cards and gifts from 1947. Interesting insight into the last days of Arch Johnston as he died February 21, 1948.
