April 1931 Correspondence
Scope and Contents
1931 April 10 from Maud? to Pat (penciled note on blue lined tablet paper “Dear Pat. H/w latest news, but dare say you have now heard everything just Hand from J. (to whom give my salaams) Everything dead as mutton here, and no hope of reviving any interest – Kindest regards. Y. sincerely?” 1931 April 21 from George ? (Nairobi, Editor, The East African Standard) to P.J. Sinclair (Moshi) (typed letter on letterhead “Many thanks for your copy of Ormsby-Gore’s letter. It is a very interesting and valuable statement. I see by today’s cables that Bown and Lead have pleaded the cause of White Settlement before the Joint Committee but words fail me when I want to say what I think of Sir Donald Cameron. I do hope that the Settlers in Tanganyika will organize a widespread movement of criticism of his very regrettable evidence and that such public retorts as may be made will be forwarded to the Standard for proper publicity. When you read his opinions of a Moshi Mass Meeting – “twelve men in a local bar” – I have no doubt it will set you going.”
