[Tables in the back of the booklet denoting various engineering functions.] In the front of the booklet are blank pages with penciled engineering notation regarding surveying observations using a Durham & Gomery Transit made by Dept. of civil engineering students dated September 29, 1893: Stake on Shanty Hill, Spire on Reformed Church, spire on Lutheran Church, Packer Hall Spire, Catholic Church Spire, Brewery Barn Spire, Top Lightning Rod on Stone House. October 3: Spire on Packer Hill, Spire, on Reformed Church, spire on Lutheran Church, spire on Catholic Church, spire on cupola brewery barn, Lightning rod on stone house, stake on Shanty Hill. October 13: BM 16 Highest point on granite boulder about 35 ft. S.W. from the S.W. brick corner of Christian Bleich’s House and 5 feet east from N end of an iron pipe in the mountain brook. BM 17 A round boulder with drill hole in top about 20 feet S.W. of mountain reservoir. Top of stone nearly level with surface of ground. Also, grids for Brodhead Avenue, Laury’s Alley, Wood Street, Chestnut Street, Eighth Street, University Park. April, May & June – 1894 Junior R.R. Surveying notations August 27 & 28, 1894 South End Forward Veriner Compass, Observer: T. Merriman. The local attraction at A as determined by R. W. Walker in 1884 and used in all magnetic work since, is 56.’24 = 0 ͦ 56’ 15” which is to be added to declinative observed at A. Other later observations combined with the above give mean local attraction at Q as 1ͦ 39.ͦ 7 see T. Merriman’s thesis.
