1979 November 3 DAR “lineage books” mentions Lewis Girdler, Jennie Girdler Morris application for membership, 1901 letter from Win’s Aunt Sarah Swett to Bob’s Aunt Jennie said that Lewis Girdler was taken by the British in 1812 in English waters and had his ship confiscated, Lewis Girdler in ship Cato was at Gothenburg, Sweden in November 1811 to March 1812, in St. Petersburg June 12, 1812, in Hano, Sweden August 3, 1812 – Reynolds Girdler discovered these dates. Change date of birth for Elizabeth Girdler to December 1811, not 1812. (Attached is information from the DAR Lineage Book, Vol. 38, p. 88, 1914 Jennie Girdler Morris mentions in her application John Brooks (1755-1813) as mate on ship Franklin, 1780 under Captain John Turner; John Bray Jr. (1740 - ?) served as lieutenant on Oliver Cromwell, a privateer, 1781; Abel Gardner (1763-1834) served on ship Rhodes, 1780; Lewis Girdler (1767-1844) served as a sailor and his name among list of prisoners.)
