This collection includes published artists’ books, exhibition catalogs, a zine, and works of literary fiction. Materials in this collection reflect various approaches to visual language and the relationship between image and text. Works address a number of themes, such as: HIV/AIDS, beauty, love, the influence of television, and more. The collection spans from the 1970s to the 1990s, with emphasis on the 1980s, all works are in good condition. Collection includes seven original artists’ books created by the donor, George Shortess. His works are artist books that are computer generated and rooted in neural concepts such as the nervous system, perception, and brain function.
