Scope and Contents
Women's strike for peace group were called up for the Peace hearings by the House UnAmerican Activities committee where many of them refused to answer questions based on their association, past or present at the time, with any communist groups; Refugee cuban doctors called up for HUAC hearings claimed that the Castro regime controlled any and all medical supplies that went out of the country and Dr. Martha Frayde, an important member of the Meical Aid to Cubs committee in New York, was a communist; Political cartoon that mocked the HUAC process of choosing who/what was unamerican; Ex-FBI agent interrupted one of the Peace probe hearings to denounce the UnAmerican activities committee as having abused their investigative powers; Multiple women in the women's peace group told the court they would not do anything to prevent communist from being their groups as they beleievd everyone should have een working towards peace no matter who they are; Walter pushed for more security bills focused on punishing anyone who helped criminals to escape the country, such as forbidding them immigration, revoking bail, and banning foreign airlines from operating in the country; The House killed a proposal to abolish the UnAmerican activities committee; House approved the HUAC's biggest budget of $331,000; Political cartoon that mocked the UnAmerican activities committee's request for money for their investigations; Former communist John Santo native to Hungary described the country as inferno on earth due to the Soviet union's force used to crush the Hungarian revolution; New security bill was proposed to limit passports of "confirmed" communist.
