Correspondence between Allen J. Barthold and various people prior to and during his stay in the Dominican Republic. Included are letters from the Department of the State in Washington, D.C. regarding his plan to leave the country for two years, various invitations received during stay abroad, information about courses taught, and balance sheets detailing expenses abroad.

Also included are writings by Allen J. Barthold on Bi-National Cultural Centers as well as a short story.

Newspaper clippings and memorabilia regarding his stay abroad. Included are various programs and pamphlets as well as a few Bulletins of the Dominican Embassy. Also included is a folder detailing Barthold's involvement in the creation of "Bon Voyage Dinners Abroad." Photographs of his stay abroad are included that show many aspects of his trip including travel, meetings, and various shots of the school.
