Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

It includes some school papers and letters to his parents away on vacation; a detailed diary of his experiences in France during and after World War I; diaries of many fishing trips; personal correspondence (and carbons of replies) mostly from the 1950s and 1960s; much American College of Surgery correspondence (and carbons of replies) from 1955 to 1970; material concerning St. Luke's Hospital (including a first fifty year history of the establishment); correspondence and reports of other organizations and activities in which Dr. Estes took a leading part; notes and typescripts of speeches he presented to the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and other organizations; pamphlets and material on other semi technical interests; many typescripts and rewrites of his technical papers; reprints of his technical papers from the professional journals; (also reprints of Dr. Estes Sr. papers); many plates of illustrations for his papers on hernia and duodenal ulcer; all of his diplomas and certificates; and other material including a phonograph recording and a reel to reel tape of a presentation.
