1932 Jan. 12 from Mrs. K.R. Tompkins to Dearest sweet daughter
Scope and Contents
thanks Mary for having the brothers visit her in Atlanta and hope Mary and Sarah can arrange for the boys to get decent jobs since they are the grandsons of Oscar Reese. A vagabond - old Joe - wants the boys to join him as plow hands on a farm. Seems thathe is insinuating himself into the boys lives and brings great animosity to Mamma about the children's father. Talked about the only thing on earth that worries her if this old tramp being alive and calling himself the father of her children and trying to stick himself on this family, after they are now grown and never even providing the necessities of life at no time. Mamma is very much against this contact with the uncle. Ben has a job as a valet to a bachelor Dr. Baum. Write right away. Aff. Mamma
