O'Reilly, Unicorn Bay. C: No. 3 Linnaean Isles. A field of Ice interspersed with Bergs (several notations about ice barriers). D: Continuation of O'Reilly's Chart. Hare Isl. Very low Land. Mallegat Sound, Part of Disko, Jacob's Bay. Esquimaus, Eskimaus, Four Islands, Four Island Point., Undikant Isl., Bergy Bay, Black Hook. [O'Reilly indicates Bernard O'Reilly (?-1848) who was on a whaling ship as surgeon that sailed to the Davis Strait in 1817. He made observations of Norse settlements, Inuit natives of West Greenland, and composed a lexicon of the Eskimo {Esquimaus/Eskimaus) language, zoology, and the Northwest Passage. These observations were published in his book Greenland, the Adjacent Seas and the North-west Passage to the Pacific Ocean, illustrated in a voyage to Davis's Strait, during the summer of 1817. New York: James Eastburne & Co. 1818. There is a lexicon of Eskimo words included in Parry's 1824 account of his second attempt to find the Northwest Passage.)
