South Carolina at the time of the ratification of the CONSTITUTION from 1780 and 1802 originals in the Library of Congress at Washington. Issued by the United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission (heading). (two insets ): green ink illustration of palm trees, vines and melons, black men working - A Map of SOUTH CAROLINA and a part of GEORGIA containing the whole Seacoast, all the Islands, Inlets, Rivers, Creeks, Parishes, Townships, Boroughs, Roads and Bridges: As also several Plantations with their proper Boundary Lines, their Names and the Names of their Propietors composed from Surveys taken by the Hon. William Bull, Esq. Lieutenant Governor, Captain Gascoign, Hugh Bryan, Esq., and William De Brahm, Esq. Surveyor General of the South District of North America. Republished with considerable Additions from the Surveys made & collected by John Stuart Esq. His Majesty's Superintendent of Indian Affairs. By William Faden surveyor to the late T. Jeffreys Geographer to the King Charing Cross 1780; (small map of ): South Carolina outlined in green. Map dedication reads: To the Right Honourable Lord George Germaine, First Lord Commissioner and to the rest of the Right Honourable Lords Commissioners of Trade & Plantatations this Map is most humbly Inscribed to their Lordships By their Lordships most Obedient & most devoted Serv't. William Faden. Special note: Large map by John Stuart published in 1780 reproduced without modification; smaller map by John Drayton published in Charles- ton, S.C. in 1802 is reproduced without change except for explanation of conventional signs of green lines in place of words referring to original map.
