Leach Re: renewal reminder, open for eighth season, mentions conservation as one of the bulwarks of defense in spite of the war. 1942 September 1 H. S. Leach Membership card 1942 September 25 from Rosalie Edge to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Member Re: renewal reminder and notes that donation can be sent in Defense Bonds or Stamps. 1943 March 30 from Rosalie Edge to Members and Donors Re: Pennsylvania House Bill No. 848 introduced by Assemblyman Harris which provides for a $5. Bounty on predatory birds and requests to write or telegraph against this bill. Says Mr. Seth Gordon, Game Commissioner and entire Commission is in sympathy with this protection. 1943 April 10 from Rosalie Edge (Emergency Conservation Committee) to Howard S. Leach Re: defeat of Bill #848 1943 October 7 from Rosalie Edge (Mrs. Charles Noel Edge) to Member Re: membership renewal and a note that a soldier from North Africa sent a money order for $5 saying “Let’s not have Hawk Mountain appear on the list of the war dead.” No date from Peter K. Dufault to Mrs. Edge letter reminiscing about his two brief days spent on Hawk Mountain. He sought to find an association of students and professors whose common interest was poetry but didn’t find the right one yet found companionship with the bird watchers on Hawk Mountain.
