Abstract

This is a charming collection of juvenile poetry and illustrations generally unknown in the body of children’s literature. The poetry is attributed to a Lehigh alumnus who graduated with a degree in metallurgy. The poetry seems to express the author’s fondness for nature and his family feelings.

A nineteenth century ledger contains example of calligraphy and extensive examples of arithmetic calculations in preparation for various trades such as carpentry, mercantile, roofing and masonry by Andrew Jackson Odenwelder of East Allen Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.

Scope and Contents The collection is a single manuscript measuring 21.5 x 15.5 cm. stored in a black paper wrapped box measuring 27 x 22 x 3 cm. The manuscript is contained within stiff card paper covers of burgundy colored paper with gilt title “Memoria y Planos de un anteprocyecto para la terminacion del Canal De Panamá por D. Gabriel M.
