This scrapbook is a collection of newspaper articles reflecting the Veeder family’s career in Kentucky oil. Curtis H. Veeder’s father drilled for oil in Kentucky shortly following the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania by Edwin Drake.
General Lafayette’s Tour of the United States
This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings from the arrival of the Marquis de Lafayette in August 1884 at New York to his visit to Norfolk, Virginia in October 1824. Among the newspaper articles are five engravings depicting General Lafayette.

Anything anyone wanted or needed to know about gold is included in the newspaper articles glued to the pages of the scrapbook. Whoever took the time to collect the information had a very serious intent or need to know about gold.
Henry K. Wetherhold World War II Memoirs
Henry K. Wetherhold served in the 364th Bombardment Squadron, 305th Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force, from 1943-1945 as a pilot. He flew 30 missions in a B-17, all of which are described and documented in this album, including photos and newspaper clippings. Documentation of his army service, awards, etc. is included. There are also sketches, photos, notes, etc. of reunions with his group, and photos of his family, up to 1994.
