Scope and Contents
The first folder contains two copies of the graduation program for the Class of 1893. The second folder contains a document pertaining to the Junior Oratorical Contest for the Class of 1894. The third folder contains a program for University Day, 1893. The fourth folder contains two envelopes containing photos of campus from 1893. Many of them depict the Linderman Library and the Packer Memorial Church. The fifth folder contains two copies of “Cremation Calculus” and a calculating disc for lamp feet.

Biographical / Historical
Richard Willis Heard was born in 1871 and majored in Electrical Engineering at Lehigh, graduating in 1893. He married Virginia Lord Nisbet on in 1901 and had two children, Virginia and Richard, in 1905 and 1906. By 1912, he was president of the Heard Lumber Company in Georgia, a position which he occupied until sometime between 1937 and 1947. Heard died in 1959.

This collection contains material relating to the settlement of Mary Packer Cummings’s estate, which was tied in with the settlement of Asa Packer's estate. She was the daughter of Asa Packer, founder of Lehigh University.
