Scope and Contents

Collection contains approximately 400 videotapes (mostly VHS, and some Beta and UMAX) acquired from Lehigh departments and offices. Most of the Communications and Public Affairs tapes are recorded from commercial broadcasting companies. These recordings are protected by strict copyright. Development and Alumni Association tapes are mostly about Lehigh events and recorded by individuals hired for the events. LTS created tapes document curricular activities generally. Permission to use required.

Biographical / Historical

Founded in 1865 by Asa Packer, Lehigh University is a private, coeducational, nondenominational four year university. Home to over 4500 undergraduates and 2000 graduate students, Lehigh offers degrees in one of its four colleges- The College of Arts and Science, the PC Rossin College of Engineering, the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Education. In 2107, "College of Health" was announced as Lehigh's 5th college.

Abstract

Collection of video tapes (mostly VHS) acquired mostly from Communications and Public Affairs, Alumni Association, Development Office (Advancement) and many other Lehigh offices, departments and individuals. Also includes DVC tapes (Box 14)

Arrangement

Arranged in boxes as they are transferred and received. Each item is given an accession number but no further arrangement applied. In many cases, the tapes had very brief or no labels. Dates: The dates were guessed when there were no marks on the cassettes. Digitizing: Digital Media Studio digitizes viedos on demand. Special Collections receives an extra copy of a CD or DVD for the CD collection. Titles are cross-referenced.
