Scope and Contents
The collection contains two three-ring albums (Album I: A – L; Album II: M – Y and list of dinner guests) and 13 black and white photographs. Eleven of the photographs are in Mylar sleeves and two small are included in one of the letters

Biographical / Historical
Bradford Willard was a member of Lehigh’s Class of 1921 receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received both a Master of Arts and a PhD from Harvard University (1922, 1923). He was born 1894 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the Army in World War I. At Lehigh he was an Assistant Professor of Geology 1938-39 and Professor and Head of the Department of Geology from 1939 to 1959. Although he retired in 1959, he continued field trips with the geology students. He was highly regarded by his peers and students in the geological field. Based on the content of the correspondence in this collection, his students acknowledged his sense of humor and good nature. He died in 1973.

Abstract
A collection of student tributes written on the occasion of Lehigh Geology professor Dr. Bradford Willard’s retirement at the end of the Spring Semester 1959. Dr. Willard’s wit and the esteem his peers held for him are humorously recalled in letters from some correspondents who could not attend the honorary dinner.
