Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials about truss bridges. There are 101 postcards (color lithography and black & white), 10 black and white photographs and one sepia, and assorted printed material (booklets, maps, photocopied charts, printed articles (Scientific American, Engineering News, Columbian Centinel (1796), one stamped first day cover enveloped recalling the Brooklyn Bridge Centennial 1883-1983.

Biographical / Historical

David Earl Guise (1931-) is an American architect. He received a B.Arch. from University of Pennsylvania in 1957. He established his own firm in New York City in 1962. He was one of the founding faculty (1966) of the School of Architecture City College of New York where he taught design and construction technology. His architectural designs have been featured in many international publications. His book, “Design and Technology in Architecture” was published in 1985.
