Biographical / Historical

This collection is attributed to Lehigh University President Dr. Henry Sturgis Drinker, however, it also covers parts of President Thomas Messinger Drown and Charles Russ Richards. In 1905, Dr. Drinker resigned as General Solicitor for the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company to take the position as Lehigh University president upon the unexpected death of Dr. Thomas M. Drown. As president, Dr. Drinker initiated several fund solicitations to meet the University expenses as well as endowments and memorials honoring his predecessor, Dr. Drown, in the Drown Memorial Hall, the Asa Packer plaque in the Packer Memorial Church and the ground breaking for the Alumni Memorial Building.
