Sepia colored oval photo (10 x 6 cm) of a baby – beneath photo is written ‘Asa Packer’ (photography was not invented until 1822, Asa Packer was born 1805 so this baby picture is not the Asa Packer that founded Lehigh University and the Lehigh Valley Railroad, possibly the baby picture is of Asa Packer Blakeslee (1854-1918), Asa Packer Linderman (son of Lucy Packer Linderman who died as child, Asa Ebenezer Packer born (1878-1964) in Utah or Asa Packer Gable (1873-? ).

This collection contains assorted memorabilia (Lucy Packer Linderman’s fan, two samplers dated 1821 and 1848, assorted photographs) but mostly notes, correspondence, deeds, daughter, Mary Packer Cummings’ will, and several copies of a paper, entitled “Asa Packer: A Connecticut Yankee in King Coal's Court,” written by Milton C. Stuart about Asa Packer for the Newcomen Society presented at Lehigh University in 1938.
