0252.24.01 Archival box containing seven fragile objects 0250.24.01.01 Ceramic plate measuring 26 cm round black line transfer print on ivory stoneware Bishopthorpe Nurses Home Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on reverse side is printed history of Home: Once the residence of an aristocratic Frenchman, Augustus Fiot, who built it about 1850 and named it “Fontainebleu.” The Manor was later converted into an exclusive school for girls. This beautifully landscaped property was purchased by St. Luke’s Hospital in 1931 and became Bishopthorpe Nurses Home. Manufactured by World Wide Art Studios, a division of Atlas Crystal Works, Inc. [in gold] above worn transfer print of rose bouquet of yellow, green and rosy pink colored roses, rim embossed flower pattern trimmed with gold on outer and inner edges, slight chip on outer rim; reverse side marked with manufacturer name: The Edwin M. BETHLEHEM, PA REGISTERED [corroded wire clasp and cork stopper with metal cap] SBHS 2010.09.01 0250.24.01.07 Ceramic souvenir plate measuring 26 cm round black line transfer print Victoria White Nurses Home Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on reverse side is printed history of Home: This former Water Cure Resort or Spa was purchased in 1875 as a hospital and became a Nurses Home in 1884. Miss Victoria White was a graduate of the Class of 1890 of this, the fourth Nurses Training School in the United States, and she later became the beloved Directress of Nurses; World Wide Art Studios® Covington, Tennessee.
