0252.24.01 Archival box containing seven fragile objects 0250.24.01.01 Ceramic plate measuring 26 cm round black line transfer print on ivory stoneware Bishopthorpe Nurses Home Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on reverse side is printed history of Home: Once the residence of an aristocratic Frenchman, Augustus Fiot, who built it about 1850 and named it “Fontainebleu.” The Manor was later converted into an exclusive school for girls. This beautifully landscaped property was purchased by St. Luke’s Hospital in 1931 and became Bishopthorpe Nurses Home. Manufactured by World Wide Art Studios, a division of Atlas Crystal Works, Inc. Miss Victoria White was a graduate of the Class of 1890 of this, the fourth Nurses Training School in the United States, and she later became the beloved Directress of Nurses; World Wide Art Studios® Covington, Tennessee.
