Engineering Field Books 1893-1910
Interesting examples of engineering calculations and observations before the age of computers. Some books have calculations recording the Lehigh River flow and flood stages as well as New York City engineering works at the turn of the twentieth century.
Final Examinations and Answer Sheets, 1892 -1893
Contains holograph examination questions and answer sheets of tests given in June 1893 at Lehigh University. The courses are identified by title and class level (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior) and the answer sheets (usually listed as "the two best submitted") by the students who wrote them. Also included is a scrapbook containing copies of all the examinations given at Lehigh in 1892.
George Augustus Horne Photographs, Class of 1899
Twelve glass plate negative photographs of Lehigh campus buildings, both interior and exterior views circa 1898. The photographer and the donor collectively represent an extensive Lehigh family spanning two centuries.
"H.D." Hilda Doolittle collection
The collection is composed of an academic hood, diploma with brown and white cord and two black and white glossy photographs displayed in a commemorative exhibit in Lehigh University Linderman Library. They were a center feature of a conference titled “H.D. and Feminist Poetics” held at Lehigh September 2015. The exhibit curated by guest curator Jennifer Hyest.
Helen M. Search Rogens collection
This collection documents Helen M. Search’s involvement with student drama activities at Lehigh University and Moravian College. Most of the collection is activity documents of the Mustard and Cheese Drama Club at Lehigh University. and similar theatrical endeavors within the school.
Henry Sylvester Jacoby Papers
Henry S. Jacoby Papers contains diplomas and certificates he received, drawings and illustrations for some of his books, scrapbooks about Lehigh (1872-1877), typescripts of some of his publications, and correspondence to and from the American Railway Engineering Association. The correspondence is of special to any engineer interested in the work involved in formulating a textbook or the forensics of old bridges.
Hiram Sanborn Chamberlain Collection
Small collection of material reflecting a senior student’s last year at Lehigh. Mr. Chamberlain graduated in 1903 with an Engineer of Mines degree. Collection contains a metal football recording the event of a 1902 Lehigh-Lafayette football game played in Easton with a score of 6-0 - a Lehigh win. The cast metal football records the names of the team members, winning score and the menu of the victory banquet.
