James H. LeVan Papers (1922-1992)
The collection contains some Lehigh University class notes and syllabi, and a notebook of material as Class Correspondent for the Class of 1926. The rest of the material concerns his career in the U.S. Public Health Service. Papers he wrote, notebooks of material regarding promotions and assignments, and his retirement files, and scrapbooks are included.
Julian Albert Leonhard Correspondence, 1903-1904
The letters in this collection were sent by Leonhard Family and Lehigh University President Thomas M. Drown about Julian Albert Leonhard's death from typhoid fever in his freshman year from a possible fraternity hazing prank. Leonhard’s typhoid was caused by contaminated water which was believed to be from the Bethlehem city water.
Lehigh Class of 1889 50 Year Book
Material includes correspondence between class members (and families of deceased members) with Historian John J. Lincoln (a member of the class) for material to be included in a 50 Year Book, titled, Record of the Class of 1889, Lehigh, (n.p.: published by the class, 1935). It also includes some updated material to 1945.
Lehigh Valley Railroad Documents
Reflected in this collection is the bureaucracy of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company from a train conductor’s view. The collection contains bulletins, supplements to bulletins, correspondence about operation of trains, train fares, schedules of train stations, time tables, conductor’s documentation of passengers’ destinations, tickets issued and material especially about the Black Diamond Express – the LVRR’s most famous train.

This collection contains letter from 1943 from family and Lehigh friends to Sheldon Zalkind during his time in the military. It’s composed of 43 items, including correspondences, postcards, and a photograph.
Papers of Carl F. Strauch Professor of English, Lehigh University
This collection includes articles, manuscripts, and correspondence relating to his publications as well as syllabi, lecture notes and student papers from his teaching at Lehigh. Extensive material from his work on the following authors: Carlyle, Arnold, Hawthorne, Poe, James, Melville, Whitman, and Emerson. Material on other 19th century authors and on the Romantic period is also included.
Sports History at Lehigh University Collected by H.R. (Bosey) Reiter in 1941
A collection of letters written in 1941 to Professor H.R. (Bosey) Reiter in response to his request to alumni for reminiscences of their undergraduate experiences in athletics. The material was to be used in a publication for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the University, but there is no record that this was ever done. Responses came from graduates from the 1880s through the 1930s, including a few who also sent photographs.
William C. Bowie Scrapbooks
Four scrapbooks containing miscellaneous newspaper clippings, correspondence. Each volume individually indexed. The materials in the scrapbooks are not arranged chronologically throughout: Vol. 1 1891-1937; Vol 2 1919-1937; Vol. 3 1916-1937, Vol. 4 1889-1939. William C. Bowie's career in scientific research in the theory of isostasy and its application to dynamics and structural geology is reflected in these scrapbooks.
