Eckley B. Coxe Technical Library Scrapbooks on Australian Gold Discoveries
These scrapbooks were a part of the Eckley B. Coxe Technical Library and given to Lehigh Library in 1896. The material includes Australian newspaper articles relating to the various Australian goldfields and their output beginning in 1851 as well as the amount of gold revenues generated.
Eckley Brinton Coxe Notebooks
The material included here consists of five handwritten, bound notebooks, with notes, drawings, computations, etc. on scientific matters. One is partly in German. These notebooks apparently date from his period of study in Germany.
Lehigh University Presidents' Correspondence, 1866-1921
This collection includes letters written to the office of the President (some to the Secretary of the Faculty or the Registrar) between 1866 and 1921. These letters cover many aspects of "Life as President of Lehigh". Also included are sixty one "Letter Books" with the replies from the President in chronological order from 1878 to 1920.
Louis Edouard Rivot Lectures on Mining Engineering
Handwritten lecture notes in French which became the basis for a popular mining engineers field handbook in the late Nineteenth Century. The lectures were given by Professor Louis Edouard Rivot at Ecole Imperiale des Mines in Paris and the notes taken by his student Rothwell. The manuscripts owned by Eckley B. Coxe then donated to Lehigh in 1897.
Mathematik Notes 1858 - 1859
This nineteenth century manuscript is another item from the Eckley B. Coxe Technical Library. The notebook is written in Old German and deals with the topic of mathematical calculations useful for mining engineering specifically with the use of a sextant as a mine surveying instrument. The notes are from lectures given by a Professor Dr. A. Junge at Freiberg School of Mines in the academic year 1858/59.
Speeches of Henry Sturgis Drinker President of Lehigh University
Typescripts of speeches, many with additional penciled-in notes, given by Dr. Drinker as president of Lehigh University, as president of the American Forestry Association, and as a supporter of war preparedness and the Student Army Training Corps movement.
