Archibald Johnston Letterbook
Archibald Johnston Papers
Collection of wide ranging documents related to Archibald Johnston, a prominent graduate of Lehigh University Class of 1889, noting his careers at Bethlehem Steel Corporation and as the first mayor of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The material is complimentary to an earlier received Johnston collection of cablegrams sent while Mr. Johnston represented Bethlehem Steel Company in South America.
Archibald McIntyre Correspondence
These letters give a brief glimpse into the mining business in the early Nineteenth Century. Alexander McIntyre to whom these letters are addressed was an ambitious entrepreneur in the coal and iron country of New York and Pennsylvania with his name being passed on to many sites in these states.
Archives of Chemical Society of Lehigh University
The Chemical Society was formed in 1871, encouraged by Prof. Chandler, and according to the notes, was still active in the 1950s. The material here includes 6 manuscript notebooks from the early days of the society.

The collection consists of six English term papers, three assorted topics papers, two 33 hats, one BS diploma, one fellowship appointment letter, one accounts notebook, one high school yearbook, one 33 chef’s toque and one 33 apron.

Asa and Sarah Packer Golden Wedding Anniversary Album, January 23, 1878
This is one of the few artifacts that exist at Lehigh of Asa Packer, Lehigh University’s founder. The album is a fabulous record of who was who during the Packer Family’s lifetime. The album reflects the importance and wealth that Asa and Sarah Packer had acquired during their life being with virtually only their own fortitude, hard work, and entrepreneurial endeavor.
Asa Packer Biographical Material and Memorabilia
This collection contains some memorabilia, photographs but mostly notes, correspondence, and several copies of a paper, titled “Asa Packer: A Connecticut Yankee in King Coal's Court,” written by Milton C. Stuart for the Newcomen Society in 1938.
Asa Packer Estate Accounts and Other Financial Documents, 1879-1924
A collection of financial records, including receipts, bills, statements, etc., in four separate Estate Accounts, administered by the trustees of the estate of Asa Packer, and Lehigh University covering the period May 1879 through 1972.
Asa Packer Graphic Design Book Project
Asa Packer books designed and constructed by Lehigh University students as class projects called “Asa Packer Book Project” for their Graphic Design III taught by Professor Thom Lepley in the Spring of 2003-2004 and Fall of 2004-2005 academic years. Through this graphic design project, the students were to research and study artifacts and evidence of Asa Packer’s lifespan and then tell a unique story in a hand-bound artist book that would define Asa Packer and his legacy.
