Scope and Contents
Total 10 volumes collection contains typescript reports of the test results, blue prints of the molasses tank and photographs of steel pieces from the tank that are tested. First 4 volumes of the collection, lacking the volumes fifth and sixth*, contain Albert Ladd Colby’s final general report to the defense team, Larkin & Perry Attorneys at Law. Additional 5 volumes are A. L. Colby’s private and confidential reports to Larkin & Perry and a summary of his testimony in the court....
In 1955 Fritz Engineering Laboratory, originally built by John Fritz in 1909-1910, dedicated a new seven-story addition known as the new Fritz Laboratory. From that time on there was a systematic filing of research reports. Before this date the research reports in Fritz Laboratory were not designated systematically. This collection of manuscripts was produced or collected by faculty prior to 1955.
This collection includes letters written to the office
of the President (some to the Secretary of the Faculty or the Registrar) between 1866 and 1921. These
letters cover many aspects of "Life as President of Lehigh". Also included are sixty one "Letter Books"
with the replies from the President in chronological order from 1878 to 1920.
Abstract
A varied assortment of documents collected by Lynn S. Beedle, professor of structural engineering, former head of Fritz Engineering Laboratory research, and founder of the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat at Lehigh University. Included among the documents are records of his U.S. Navy career observing the atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in 1946.
