Archives of Chemical Society of Lehigh University
The Chemical Society was formed in 1871, encouraged by Prof. Chandler, and according to the notes, was still active in the 1950s. The material here includes 6 manuscript notebooks from the early days of the society.
Bethlehem Natural Science Association Scrapbook
This scrapbook entails 62 numbered pages of assorted newspaper articles primarily from the Bethlehem Globe-Times and the Allentown Call-Chronicle, the Association’s correspondence (meeting notice postcards, By-laws), 15 original black and white/sepia photographs of various nature outings and members. The scrapbook has a title page of “Mark Twain’s Scrap Book Patent 281 657 with Directions to use a little moisture on the gummed lines… Daniel Slote & Company New York.”
Charles Willard Marsh Collection
Baseball and Bethlehem Steel Corporation related memorabilia of the second half of the twentieth century mostly corporate items and baseball related newspaper clippings complied by Charles Willard Marsh, Lehigh Class of 1960.
Hardware Scrapbook
There is a two-fold interest in this item. The actual hardware illustrated within the catalogue that was utilized as a scrapbook for some Lehigh University newspaper articles appearing in many newspapers between 1907 to 1912. The hardware illustrated in the book is now of considerable interest to antique restoration. Much of the hardware reflects the Eastlake and Art Nouveau architectural styles. The newspaper articles feature many interesting features of Lehigh’s history.
James H. LeVan Papers (1922-1992)
The collection contains some Lehigh University class notes and syllabi, and a notebook of material as Class Correspondent for the Class of 1926. The rest of the material concerns his career in the U.S. Public Health Service. Papers he wrote, notebooks of material regarding promotions and assignments, and his retirement files, and scrapbooks are included.
Knight Family Scrapbook 1878-1894
This scrapbook is a vintage example of a nineteenth century tradition known as a common book, a personal collection of interesting newspaper articles such as poetry, local news, obituaries, photographs, and souvenirs of events.
Pearce Atkinson, Class of 1889 Scrapbook
The collection of newspaper articles, Lehigh student memorabilia, invitations, athletics programs and correspondence is recorded in a scrapbook measuring 30 x 24.5 x 6 cm, 99 pages very poor condition measuring 30.5 x 25 x 4 cm marbled paper over board with dark brown pebbled buckram spine and corners - exterior looks good but interior pages all separated from the spine and the paper pages chipping and crumbling.

This collection of photographs records the careers of two Lehigh alumni in mining engineering and illustrate the diamond mining procedures in South Africa of the world’s most famous mining conglomerate – De Beers, from 1899 to 1905.
Preston A. Lambert Papers 1884 - 1927
These papers reflect an era of formally engraved invitations, letters of appreciation among faculty, students, university presidents and alumni and general camaraderie. Interesting historical notes are stated in some of the letters in the exchange between a faculty member and three University presidents.
