Abstract
This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings from the arrival of the Marquis de Lafayette in August 1884 at New York to his visit to Norfolk, Virginia in October 1824. Among the newspaper articles are five engravings depicting General Lafayette.

Abstract
A unique record of soldiers of German origin who served the “United States” in the Continental Army under the command of Lt. Col. Ludwig Weltner from Frederick, Maryland as opposed to the German troops who served in the British Army. In May 1776 the Second Continental Congress established the Eighth Maryland Regiment, more popularly known as the German Regiment or German Battalion as an infantry unit.
