David H. Childs manuscript: "Yes Siree!"
This is a charming collection of juvenile poetry and illustrations generally unknown in the body of children’s literature. The poetry is attributed to a Lehigh alumnus who graduated with a degree in metallurgy. The poetry seems to express the author’s fondness for nature and his family feelings.
Harvey A. Neville, President of Lehigh University, 1961-1964 Miscellaneous Material
Material is mostly congratulatory notes and cards received on the occasion of the announcement of his selection and installation as President of Lehigh University in October 1961. Also included are some newspaper clippings, and a few of Dr. Neville's poems.
"H.D." Hilda Doolittle collection
The collection is composed of an academic hood, diploma with brown and white cord and two black and white glossy photographs displayed in a commemorative exhibit in Lehigh University Linderman Library. They were a center feature of a conference titled “H.D. and Feminist Poetics” held at Lehigh September 2015. The exhibit curated by guest curator Jennifer Hyest.
Obed Hathaway Logbook from Ship “Bedford” 1789-1796
An interesting document describing a young man’s apprenticeship at sea learning the seaman’s trade and passing his free time writing poetry and songs to entertain his ship board companions. The date of this logbook is the late eighteenth century describes the early American whaling trade out of New Bedford, Massachusetts later forever immortalized in Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick.”
William McCollum, Don Marquis Collection
Collection contains material from the estate of William McCollum, Jr., Lehigh 1937. It includes photocopies of letters written by Don Marquis, which were collected and published by McCollum. Also included are four boxes of personal material from McCollum, typescripts of many unpublished poems, and a memoir.
