Albany Water Works, 1835-1851

Overview This is a ten document collection comprised of eight pamphlets, a manuscript, and a detailed map regarding 19th century Albany, New York’s municipal water supply. The documents are dated from 1842 to 1850 but an earlier history of water supply for Albany is reflected within the documents.

Automobile Road Maps of Europe and North America

Overview Collection composed primarily of Alphonse Taride maps for regions of France circa 1920s and a few other vintage maps: Brentano's British Isles, Rand McNally's New England: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Canadian Maritime Provinces and Germany's Schwartzwald region. The maps reflect the era of the establishment of the automobile as a cultural symbol of freedom of the road and travel between the two World Wars.

Scope and Contents The Lehigh collection is composed of 35 individual antique maps of different sizes. Twenty-seven maps indicate that they were manufactured by Johann Georg Schreiber, three maps indicate their manufacture was supervised by his widow and five maps are attributed to Johann Christ.
