Abstract

Guatemalan photographs of buildings ruined by earthquakes. Some photographs are attributed to Edward James Kildare (1849-1901). These photographs are primarily of the region in south central Guatemala affected by the earthquakes that occurred in 1773-74 in Antigua, formerly the capital city during the Spanish occupation of Guatemala, also a few of the Quetzaltenango region after the 1902 earthquake made by possibly his partner photographer, Alberto Valdeavellano.

Abstract This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings relating to the Bach Choir’s first appearance outside Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This event occurred in January 1917 appearing in Carnegie Hall, New YorkCity as a featured participant in the New York Philharmonic’s 75th anniversary festival. Charles Schwab of Bethlehem Steel Company generously paid for the trip to New York. Sports History at Lehigh University Collected by H.R. (Bosey) Reiter in 1941

Abstract

A collection of letters written in 1941 to Professor H.R. (Bosey) Reiter in response to his request to alumni for reminiscences of their undergraduate experiences in athletics. The material was to be used in a publication for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the University, but there is no record that this was ever done. Responses came from graduates from the 1880s through the 1930s, including a few who also sent photographs.

The Lehigh University Summer Inspection Tour, 1922

Abstract This collection depicts a pioneering field trip made in 1922 by Lehigh’s Mining Engineering department. It consists of 127 black and white photographs, one map, two letters, and three decorative album covers. Thirty of the photographs are duplicated indicating that the official photographer of the field trip made at least two sets of photographs.
