1979 July 10 sending a “table of contents” of Girdler-Gardner letters, etc. Jim and Win call the collection the “Marblehead Memoir.” Win says she has typed up all the letters in a uniform format, added a couple of wills and other bits and mailed it all off to Reynolds Girdler in Connecticut who will send it to Jim (Harrison). Win thinks copies of the letters should be in the Marblehead Historical Society.

Dixey and 15 sailors drowned, State School Ship Massachusetts, Capt. Girdler arrived in Salem Harbor; petition of Wm. Girdler, a mariner, employed in expedition to Cape Breton, petition denied.

1980 April 30 Jim (Harrison) will get Aunt Jennie’s journal kept on the R.H. Dixey, writing to MIT for John Gardner Low papers. Marion Gosling’s letter is of interest because of William Girdler, son of George who tangled with the pirate and father of Richard who married Hannah Russell making him grandfather of Lewis Girdler.
