Lehigh’s 150th Rivalry Football Game Memorabilia

Abstract

Lehigh and Lafayette played their 150th rivalry football game in Yankee Stadium, New York, N.Y. November 22, 2014. The reason being that in the early days of football at Lehigh beginning 1884, the football game rivalry between the two schools was played several times during the football season. The 150th game was hosted by the Lehigh New York Alumni Association. Lafayette won.

Scope and Contents

The collection of newspaper articles, Lehigh student memorabilia, invitations, athletics programs and correspondence is recorded in a scrapbook measuring 30 x 24.5 x 6 cm, 99 pages very poor condition measuring 30.5 x 25 x 4 cm marbled paper over board with dark brown pebbled buckram spine and corners - exterior looks good but interior pages all separated from the spine and the paper pages chipping and crumbling.

Professor Worcester Lectures on Physiological Psychology

Abstract

This collection contains three items, two by Fayette A. McKenzie and one by Dixon H. Kautz. Two items are notebooks by Fayette A. McKenzie that mostly contain notes from the Spring 1894 Class “Lectures on the Outlines of Physiological Psychology.” The third item is a letter by Dixon H. Kautz saying the notebooks by McKenzie were transferred to his care on March 28, 1895.

Ralph VanArnam Correspondence Collection

Abstract

The majority of the collection is comprised of letters from Ralph VanArnam Lewis (1902-1977), the bulk of which were sent between 1920 and 1955. Ralph had been a professor in the d Mathematics and Astronomy Department from 1928 to 1967. Most of the letters are between Ralph and his parents and his future wife on topics like the Bethlehem area and Lehigh. The collection also includes letters written by his brother, Lewis.

Abstract This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings relating to the Bach Choir’s first appearance outside Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This event occurred in January 1917 appearing in Carnegie Hall, New YorkCity as a featured participant in the New York Philharmonic’s 75th anniversary festival.
